ART BUSAN 2016
ART BUSAN started out as a regional event and has grown into an art fair, capturing the attention of the global community. This year, a jubilant contemporary art festival will be presented highlighted by a diverse range of programs and participation by major galleries from Korea and abroad.
ART BUSAN has established its title as a top tier art fair in Asia within four years with the first event in 2012. ART BUSAN has been hosted annually in the renowned city of Busan, with luxurious residential conditions, beautiful waterfronts, well-organized industrial infrastructure and world-class cultural art festivals. Kicking off with the VIP preview, this year’s international art fair will be held from May 19 to 23 at BEXCO.
Young International Art Fair
ART BUSAN is continuing its success, thanks to its ability to create contents that distinguish it from other art fairs. Inviting galleries that had not participated in previous art fairs in Korea received much positive response from collectors. Furthermore, as a young art fair, a number of new galleries are presented to draw attention from new collectors. The S-Booth section accommodates solo exhibitions of artists under 40 years of age and offers booths with unprecedented terms for galleries that have opened for 5 years or less and participating in ART BUSAN for the first time.
Another noteworthy fact about ART BUSAN is that about 40% of its participants each year are galleries from overseas, which is the highest percentage among art fairs in Korea. For the 2016 event, there will be about 77 foreign galleries from 18 countries. Among them are those who have already gained international acclaim such as Pearl Lam Galleries of Hong Kong and Tomio Koyama Gallery of Tokyo, as well as those being introduced in Korea for the first time such as E.S.K.F.F. at Mana Contemporary of the U.S. and Madein Gallery of Shanghai.
