Comments: His paintings of beautiful American models graced the covers of numerous magazines after WWI; and the feminine type he depicted became known as the Armstrong Girl." He was equally well known for his portraits of screen idols (including Marlene Dietrich, Mary Pickford and Rudy Vallee) and socialites which appeared in the major movie magazines of the 1920s and 1930s Among the magazines to which he contributed: Photoplay, Cosmopolitan, and College Humor. His work was also reproduced in a popular calender series published by Brown & Bigelow from the 1920s through 1950s.
