Comments: King was paralyzed as a child but was nevertheless active as an itinerant miniaturist in Massachusetts from about 1848 to 1863. After his marriage in the early 1860's he became a prison overseer at Windsor (Vt.) for a few years, then joined a cutlery firm in Shelburne Falls (Mass.) where he worked until his death. His work has been confused with that of James Sanford Ellsworth (see entry).
