Biografie von James T. PALMATARY (XIX)

Addresses: Baltimore, active 1868-69

Profession: Townscape artist

Comments: He may have received his introduction to viewmaking from Edwin Whitefield (see entry), since he served as his business agent for more than two years, beginning in 1850. Reps states that many of the views published by E. Sachse & Co., most notably a 1853 lithograph of Baltimore, did indeed have Palmatary as the artist. He went on to make views of Indianapolis (1854) and Washington (DC), and published a proposal to do a view of Columbus (OH) in 1854.
