Biografie von Theodore V. PETICOLAS (1800-1865)

Profession: Miniature and portrait painter, drawing teacher

Comments: Youngest son of Philippe Abraham Peticolas (see entry). Brought up in Richmond (Va.), he was active there as a miniature painter from 1819 to 1820. After this he is went to Cincinnati (Ohio), where he married in 1824, but by 1833 he was working in Huntsville (Ala.). From 1836 to at least 1842 he was painting miniatures in Cincinnati, but by 1851 he had retired to live in Clermont County (Ohio) as a farmer. The Cincinnati engraver Edward F. Peticolas (see entry) may have been his son.
