Biografie von Joseph II JEFFERSON (1774-1832)

Comments: Son of an English actor, he went on the stage as a child in England. He emigrated to America in 1795, played for a year in Boston (MA), and then settled in NYC where he acted and painted scenery for the New or Park Theatre until 1803. After 1803 he was associated for many years with the Chestnut Street Theatre in Philadelphia. His son Joseph III and grandson, Joseph IV were also artists (see entries).
