Comments: Sailor aboard 3 whalers out of Edgartown in his youth. Entered the employ of William Maxfield, c.1873. By 1875 he had his own business as a flower painter, fresco painter, sign painter and grainer. He also worked for a time in the 1890s for Ullman Manufacturing Co., an art novelties firm.
