Comments: Began painting in Germany in 1889. He came to NYC in 1894 and established his studio there. He also had a summer home and studio in Banff. His first sketching trip was to Wyoming and Yellowstone Park in 1895. Specialized in Western American big game painting. The Glenbow Fndn. has preserved his studio in the Rocky Mtns. as a museum. His works represent valuable records of the natural history of the region.
