Comments: Spent most of his summers in New England, where he painted luminous scenes of the mountains and lakes (especially the Connecticut River Valley, the Berkshires, and the Green Mountains). Also painted at Lake George, Lake Champlain, and the Jersey coast; in 1859 he traveled to Florida, producing views of St. John's River and St. Augustine.
