Comments: Came to U.S. in childhood. He was ca. 17 years old, when C. Bohn of Washington, DC asked him to make a series of drawings of Virginia, many of which were published as lithographs by E. Sachse and Co. He drew a view of the laying of the cornerstone of the Soldiers Monument in Hampton, VA, in 1867 and created an oil painting of Harpers Ferry in 1877. In 1878 he visited East Hampton with other Tile Club members and returned for ten more summers. Position: A. Dir., CUASch, 1905-.
