Comments: Groll painted landscapes near New York until c.1904, when he went west for the first time and discovered the desert landscape. He returned many times and became much respected and successful as the master of the Arizona and New Mexico desert landscapes. The Pueblo Indians of New Mexico liked and respected his work, giving him the name "Chief Bald Head-Eagle Eye."
