Comments: Born to American parents and came to the U.S. c.1885. He painted many of the NYC upper class in his time as well as officials of the Catholic Church, including Pope Pius X and three other popes, the Cardinals Hayes and Spellman and Archbishop Hanna. He painted Kaiser Wilhelm II in Potsdam in 1909 and Woodrow Wilson in 1917.
