Comments: Most of his activity took place in the prosperous city of Troy, NY, where Moore was was the leading portraitist for many years. He made at least one painting trip to Ohio, in 1831 (several portraits still remain in possession of the families), and is also known to have been active in NYC, 1857-60, and Albany (NY), 1858-60. Moore was the teacher of William Mason Brown (see entry).
