Comments: Magazine illustrator of the Civil War, the West and the Spanish-American War. Auth./illustr.: article, Jackson's Foot-Cavalry at 2nd Bull Run, in Battles and Leaders of the Civil War" (1884). A major in the Confederate Army. Important for his war illustrations from the Confederate side, which appeared in Leslie's, Harper's, and Century. After the war, he opened a studio in Baltimore, later moving to NYC, Bayonne, NJ, and Port Conway, NJ.
