The refined pair of tempera in question depicts two church interiors, of great interest for the rich decorative apparatus and the articulated architectural definition. The inscription on the back makes it possible to identify the hand of the German painter Carl Scharold. The German-born artist is best remembered for his landscapes and for his interesting and refined architectural views. Some views of him are kept in the Münchner Stadtmuseum.
