It's strange to paint frills and ruffles when all I have in my head are post-apocalyptic images. But I've never swum in a pool, nor have I been to a real party, even when I was in school. The juxtaposition feels surreal—a blend of the mundane and the imagined.In this piece, I've intertwined the tranquility of twilight with the silent introspection of my subject hinting at unseen depths like the pool's still waters behind her.
For texture on the primed canvas before painting, a layer of textured paste with small glass particles is applied and then sanded for smoothness.
